HAPPY NEW YEAR

It's a good thing 'doll time' runs differently to 'real time' so my dolls could have their New Year Party even though we are already well into January.

And it's also a good thing that I won the Nommy Miniatures giveaway on The Travelling Twig blog last year or they wouldn't have had any food for their party. Well, actually they would - I have two slices of toast from an early Barbie Fashion Pack - but that's really not party food.

Instead they had meatballs, noodles and fortune cookies:

They look great and appetising and my dolls are very grateful.  They are also now aware that there is dolly food available and want me to add significantly to the menu.  (Just a side comment here: I am always reminded of the differences between America and Australia when I see the meatballs in the noodle box.  In Australia, you get noodles in noodle boxes but not really anything else.  And you generally only get fortune cookies in chinese restaurants, not with takeaway. )

As you can see, one doll opted to use a plate for her meatballs
but the rest shared from the boxes.

And even our cat attended the party. She stole the cushion from the playset box as we were setting up and claimed it as her latest toy.  So far, it has survived her better than I expected.

In case you are wondering why this is a different cat to the one who was sleeping on my computer keyboard in the last entry - that beautiful cat disappeared around the middle of last year (that was one of the reasons my comments became a bit sporadic from the middle to end of last year).  We searched and searched but have never seen or heard anything of her since.  In our searching, we contacted our local Animal Aid which takes all strays picked up in our shire, and kept an eye on their website where they list the animals they have for adoption.  After a few months, we saw this cutie who really needed a home.  She is about 18 months old and had been in the care of Animal Aid for 10 months - more than half her life.  So Luma, as we have called her, has come to live with us and I am sure you will see more of her over time as she is a real character.

Anyway, HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone.  And I hope you will hear more from me this year than last year.

  2. Happy New Year!

Sorry to read that your other cat disappeared. Glad to see you have Luma who looks like a charmer. She's watching you watch her. She might inspire her own blog ;-)

Congrats on winning the Nommy Miniatures giveaway. Your dolls will have party eats. Mine are glaring at me. "Hey, Sindy's got three boxes of frozen green beans."

Love how your guys are chill-laxing, just hanging cool while the ladies are coiffed and shod ;-)

    1. Thank you D7ana. As for Luma, she certainly is an individual and very sweet so we shall see.
I was pleased to win the giveaway but, you know how it is with dolls, they always want more. Are your dolls jealous of the three boxes of green beans or do they want at least the same?
As for the clothes, I'm not sure if that relates to the state of my dolls' wardrobes or our culture. Probably a bit of both - our men do tend to prefer being very casual and just ' hanging with the other guys' and the girls like to get dressed up.

  5. Happy New Year! I'm so sorry that your cat disappeared last year. How kind of you to give this beautiful kitty a home! This is a cute set-up with your dolls, and the food does look delicious. I'm looking forward to hearing more from you this year (though I will probably be posting less)!

    1. Hi Roxanne and thank you. I hope you have a great year even if you do post less. Last year I kept reminding myself this is a hobby and not to feel guilty because I didn't have time/didn't feel up to it. We'll enjoy the posts we do get from you no matter how many or few they are.

  6. WOW! Love the food. It looks so real! Your dolls are having a great time. They need some drinks to get the party jumping. Cats are such special friends... both old and new.

    1. Hi Ms. Leo. You are so right - they do need drinks to go with the food. I thought I had glasses but when I went hunting, I found I had a kettle and a toaster (with the two slices of toast) and that tankard but no glasses and no cutlery. Good thing the noodle boxes came with chiopsticks.
Yes, cats (and dogs) are very special friends and you never replace them, you just add another one to your family.

  7. Hi there! Congrats on winning the miniatures, they look great! Your new kitty is adorable. I'm glad you adopted her from a rescue centre instead of buying one. We too found our kitten on the street (or rather, she found us), she looks a bit like Luma: http://bit.ly/1CJqcR5
Is it too late to say Happy New Year? :D Happy Late January!

  8. Hi BlackKitty, it's never too late to say Happy something so Happy Late January to you too. Actually for me Australia Day is on Monday 26th Jan so it's a holiday weekend and your timing is perfect. Your kitty is gorgeous almost the reverse of Luma and she has very similar eyes and ears. It's always lovely to be adopted/owned by a cat.
